I hear this OFTEN. Where do you think your motivation is going to come from? Do you think someone can give you motivation like they hand out spare change? I picture someone on the street corner holding a sign “Will work for motivation”.
You are either motivated to make a change or you’re not. No one can lend or give you motivation. You have to decide for yourself that YOU want to change.
Are you needing someone to boost you every step of the way? Hold your hand? Shout encouragement at every turn?
The problem with another person “motivating” you as opposed to “inspiring” you is once that person is no longer present, your motivation disappears. I am inspired by many people. I look to them or their accomplishments as a goal that I want to achieve. Being inspired by others is normal and natural. We all get our inspiration from somewhere. 1. Make a plan for a behavioral change;
2. Don’t set unrealistically high starting goals; and
If you are looking for someone to push you and cheer you on to start out, hire a personal trainer or a life skills coach. Seek out people who inspire and encourage you. But, the motivation is going to come from you. No one can give you that.
